The sign of a good side is that they can come away from a game with all three points when for large periods they have not dominated. That is a summary of Burnley’s performance in today’s game on the Turf, in the final game of 2011. Burnley enter 2012 as one of the in-form sides of the division alongside Middlesbrough and Reading, with the play-offs now within touching distance. This is because the victory moves Burnley up to seventh, three points behind sixth-placed Hull and fifth-placed Reading. Prior to Burnley’s win at the KC Stadium in November, the club found themselves hovering dangerously just above the relegation zone. I could never have imagined how quickly the recent good run of results would propel the Clarets up the league.
