The big choice of the day that our man Eddie Howe has to make today is will Pato and Ings will be included on his squad. The answer should be a resounding yes if for no other reason then to erase the embarrassment that was Saturday’s game. Pato as you all know is coming off an injured hamstring from last months Middlesbrough game and Ings is yet to play for us after a serious knee injury shortly after joining us from Bournemouth. Howe does seem confident if not today then Friday’s game at Reading.

Hopefully we will see some common sense changes also take place in the midfield with McQuoid and Bartley starting after taking over at halftime of the last game.

For Barnsley it doesn’t look like any major changes are expected especially since there game Saturday was PPD. Recent Barnsley signing Scott Golbourne is hoping to make his full debut with the club today.

The big thing I want to see today that was missing in our last game is Goals. From what I saw and heard the team played flat all around. The good thing is Eddie Howe isn’t going to let this team slack and will do whatever it takes to see our side to victory. I’m also assuming our resurgent defense doesn’t embarrass its self yet again so I’m going to go ahead and make my State side prediction of Burnley 2 Barnsley 0. And if your attending today’s match please remember to stand up and support Kilby at the thirteen-minute mark.

To honour this legend and thank him for all his time, effort and money he has put into this club, numerous clarets fans have started a campaign for all fans to rise off their seat and applaud Barry on the 13th minute of the game against Barnsley this coming Tuesday night. This is to commemorate the wonderful 13 years Kilby has been chairman for Burnley FC and show our support and respects to wish him a quick and peaceful recovery from his illness which is unfortunately cancer. Talks are being held with the club to show a picture of Barry and a thank you message on the big screen at turf moor at the 13 minute mark.

Clarets turf would ask if you would spread this link to as many clarets as possible to make them aware of the plans. You can share this on Facebook and twitter by pasting the URL of this post into your status.

Thank You

Liam.

On the 29th December 2007 Jay made his debut for the club after replacing Stephen Jordan in the 1-0 defeat at Turf Moor to Bristol City. In January 2008 Jay signed for Scottish First Division side Stirling Albion, a day later he made his debut for The Beanos away at Celtic in a 3-0 defeat. A six week absence, due to fatigue and fitness problems, ment Jays next game was against Morton on March 1st. The young Rodriguez bagged his first professional goal in the dying seconds of this game but the game still ended in a 2-1 defeat for Albion. Jay stayed at Sterling Albion ’til the end of the season scoring goals against Livingstone and St Johnstone however this wasn’t enough to avoid relegation and Albion finnished bottom of the league.

The Media were expecting Jay to make another move to Scotland during the 2008-09 season but the speculation was cut short by manager Owen ‘Horseface’ Coyle, who ruled out any move. His first appearance in the season came in the third round of the league cup where he secured Burnley’s place in the fourth round by lobbing the keeper in a 88th minute stunner thus kick starting the Capitol Punishment run.

He also scored what could be claimed as Burnleys most dramatic goal, in the league cup semi final against Tottenham equalising the tie on aggregate making it 4–4 late on, and although Burnley went on to win the game 3–2 on the night, the tie finished 6–4 to Spurs on aggregate after late goals in extra time from Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko.

A 4-2 victory over Crystal palace gave Jay his first league goal for the clarets on 11th march 2009, just three days later Rodriguez struck again with a stunning strike in Burnley’s overwhelming 5-0 win against Nottingham Forest. This wonderful goal won him the award of ’2009 Burnley goal of the season’. Jay’s first start for the clarets came a month later against Crystal Palace which resulted in a 1-0 win for the clarets. Rodriguez was a key part of Burnley’s promotion campaign and played in both the play off semi-final and the final where he was brought on for Stephen Thompson.

After the clarets promotion Jay found it hard to get into the first team squad due to picking up a ankle injury during a reserve game. He then completed a 1-month loan deal to Barnsley on the 1st February 2010 and went on to score against Preston North End on his Debut.

By the end of the 2010-11 season Rodriguez had become the clarets top goal scorer with 15 goals in all competitions. The most goals Jay has scored in one match came against Burton Albion on 9th August 2011 when the striker bagged 4 goals, 2 goals in normal time and 2 in extra time to make the final score 6-3 AET. As the clarets progressed to the next round so did Jay’s goal tally by scoring the opening goal against Barnet. The 5-1 win over Nottingham Forest this season gave Jay his first an second league goal of the season. He later went on to score goals against Leeds, and scored the 93rd minute winner in the 3-2 away game at hull. Other goals came in the games against Ipswich, Doncaster, Norwich , Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest away. Jay’s latest goal was the amazing solo equaliser against Peterborough where he dribbled the ball past numerous defenders from the half way line and put the ball away nicely.

Barry Kilby did a great job at BFC. The only questionable hiring in his 13 years as chairman has been the hiring of that laws fellow. He brought class and respect back to BFC and the man we all know and worship known as Eddie Howe. That being said there are issues that the new chairperson is going to have to deal with.

The latest move by BFC’s head of security is to stop selling season tickets and tickets in a certain few sections. The reason listed was that away fans have been getting threatened, harassed and abused they shouldnt be sitting in a BFC section in the first place. The way I see it is that instead of dealing with the few bad apples in the bunch security has failed massively and instead of dealing with the bad apples decided no fans should sit there. Since He has given up the first action I suggest is firing him. I have an impressive amount of security work in my background (mainly highly decorated military service in Iraq) and would happily and graciously accept any job offers from BFC.

Secondly. Open up the pocket book and resign Jay Rod to a long term deal make sure you make it worth his while. I understand you wanting to be a thrifty club but with the premier league on the horizon I would dread having to go up against that goal-scoring machine.

Thirdly more on seating arrangements please move the away fans back to the lower end of the Jimmy Mac stand and give us our cricket field tickets back. It would be nice to have a safe standing room only section. Lastly for those fans who smoke and don’t want to quit have some smoking sections outside the stadium. I worked at Soldier field here in the states last year and an American football fan actually stood on a ledge outside the stadium on the other side of a fence to smoke and fell to his death a tragic incident that I would hate to hear about happening ever again.

Fourthly, Fan interaction must be paramount. Encourage singing let us enjoy our booze and our songs. The way you make money is to entertain us with good football and a great fan experience. There are a lot of us going through a hard time with the recession and football is our escape. If you lowered ticket prices for games against teams that aren’t going to fill the stadium you would be making yourselves more accessible for the rest of us. Continue to be active in Burnley and let the fans meet and get to know the players. The meet and greet you had at your shop with Trips and Jay Rod was neat but how cool would it be to find a local struggling restaurant in Burnley and have it there to encourage more people to go there.

Finally and most important, Embrace Eddie Howe. Eddie has long term plans at this club and his plan is one for success and continued success at BFC. Eddie is a smart guy and as I mentioned in previous post knows what it takes to grow an organization. If Eddie wants a certain player make sure he gets him. If Eddie wants something changed change it. Your job Mr. Or Ms. Chairperson is to support Eddie Howe. If someone is trying to micromanage Eddie Fire him or her. Eddie is in charge of football not anyone else make sure to keep it that way.

That’s the major thoughts of this far and away BFC fan thoughts or comments direct to the Facebook site or add me Max Greatness and feel free to add your opinions to my comments section or the forum of this site.
